The recent passing of Steve Jobs and a couple Hayao Miyazaki/Studio Ghibli films have got me thinking a bit pessimistically.

I think it dawned on me after realizing that Miyazaki is now 70 that he, like Jobs, will die. And although their passion and craft have inspired countless individuals in our generation, the truest essence of an artist’s work will no longer exist upon their passing. They will leave legacies, but their creative minds will never be duplicated nor consummately preserved.

The same applies to you. There is, and will only ever be, one of you. Your mind will forever be unrivaled in its own respect.

So leave your mark.

The fact that Miyazaki will die hit me, too. I am dreading that day. But hopefully the healthy Japanese food will keep...
